Flake Epoxy Flooring in Melbourne

Looking for a floor that turns heads and stands up to serious punishment? Liquid Steel's flake epoxy flooring delivers exactly that — a seamless, hard-wearing surface available in dozens of colour combinations, perfectly suited to Melbourne homes, commercial spaces and everything in between.

Whether you're transforming a tired garage, upgrading a gym, or giving a retail showroom a fresh look, flake flooring is one of the most popular choices we install — and it's easy to see why.

What Is Flake Epoxy Flooring?

Flake flooring (also called chip or vinyl flake flooring) is an epoxy system where decorative vinyl flakes are broadcast across a base epoxy coat and then sealed with a clear, UV-stable topcoat. The result is a textured, slip-resistant surface that hides imperfections, resists stains and looks great for years.

At Liquid Steel, we use a multi-layer system for maximum durability:

  • Substrate preparation — diamond grinding removes all old coatings and opens the concrete for maximum adhesion

  • Primer coat — a specialised primer formulated for Liquid Steel to bond deep into the concrete

  • Base epoxy coat — applied in your chosen colour

  • Vinyl flake broadcast — full broadcast for complete coverage in your selected blend

  • Clear UV-stable topcoat — seals and protects the finished surface

This is not a DIY kit from the hardware store. Our system is installed by trained applicators using commercial-grade products — which is why we can back it with a warranty.

Where Is Flake Flooring Used?

Flake epoxy flooring suits a wide range of applications across Melbourne:

Residential

  • Home garages and double garages

  • Man caves and workshops

  • Laundry rooms and utility areas

  • Alfresco and entertaining areas (with appropriate topcoat)

Commercial & Industrial

  • Car dealerships and service centres

  • Gyms and fitness studios

  • Retail showrooms

  • Warehouses and distribution centres

  • Schools and childcare facilities

Why Choose Flake Flooring?

Tough and long-lasting. Flake epoxy is built to handle vehicle traffic, heavy foot traffic, dropped tools and constant use. When installed correctly, a flake floor can last 10–20 years.

Slip-resistant. The textured surface created by the flake broadcast provides natural grip underfoot — important in garages, gyms and wet areas.

Easy to clean. The seamless, non-porous surface means no grout lines, no cracks and no places for dirt to hide. A quick mop is all it takes.

Hides imperfections. Existing cracks, stains and discolouration in the concrete are covered completely by our system.

Endlessly customisable. With dozens of flake colour blends available — from subtle neutrals to bold statement combinations — you can create a floor that matches your space perfectly.

Chemical and stain resistant. Petrol, oil, brake fluid and cleaning chemicals won't damage the surface, making it ideal for garages and workshops.
